Position Summary:

Under the direction of the SBA Manager, is responsible for analyzing financial data and preparing credit authorizations, analyzing portfolio credit quality, assisting SBA/GGL Lender (BDO) in presenting credit requests to Loan Approval Committees. Will be responsible to manage client relationships and portfolio credit quality with SBA/GGL Manager.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with SBA/GGL Lender (BDO) to manage customer relationships and loan portfolios. Acts as support and backup to the lender as needed or in the lender's absence.
  • Maintains an updated and thorough knowledge of the SBA/GGL standard operating procedures as well as SBA/GGL loan underwriting techniques and eligibility requirements and must be able to communicate this knowledge to internal and external customers. Maintains a working knowledge of all SBA/GGL forms and statements along with how to complete the documentation as called for by the SBA, USDA and any other government-guaranteed loan programs.
  • Spreads and/or analyzes financial statements of potential and existing customers utilizing the bank's accepted analytical credit criteria, assuring that SBA/GGL underwriting requirements are addressed.
  • Completes a credit authorization following established SBA/GGL and SaviBank guidelines for both underwriting and loan eligibility.
  • Obtains loan approval from the appropriate authority.
  • Work with the SBA Credit Assistant to process and follow up on SBA/GGL forms that require additional screening.
  • Maintains an ongoing relationship with SBA/GGL personnel to include the SBA local district office along with the three SBA national offices, the USDA local, regional and national offices, and any other applicable government loan agency.
  • Maintains knowledge of critical issues with SBA/GGL to avoid repair or denial of guarantee.
  • Conducts credit investigations when necessary.
  • Works with SBA/GGL Manager in monitoring customer accounts and loan portfolios to detect changes that might affect their credit standing.
  • Performs annual term loan reviews.
  • Monitors compliance with loan agreement covenants.
  • Accompanies SBA/GGL Lender (BDO) on sales calls/customer calls.
  • Acts as liaison between SBA/GGL and other departments, as required.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of banking experience directly related to SBA/GGL or a combination of education and experience which provides the equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of credit and a solid understanding of collateral requirements.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting SBA/USDA, Commercial, or Consumer loans.
  • Strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
